Joel Gray - Breeder/Builder
Joel joined the CaveInn full time in 2020. In February of 2020, he retired from his Newspaper career of 34 years at the Charles City Press/Northeast Iowa Shopper.
“It was time to join Penny full-time at the CaveInn,” says Joel. “This adventure is a bucket list item for me. We are always continuing to improve and build on our solid foundation, now I can be ever-present each step of the way”
After 12 years of juggling the birth of every puppy with his work as General Manager at the Press, the move is a welcome change.
Joel exclaims, “there are too many projects that need my attention!”
Penny adds, “Welcome to the jungle!”

Penny spent her (former) professional career in Bank Marketing as a Certified Financial Marketing Professional. After retiring from the financial industry in 2019 she began her Animal Behavior journey. Now, as an Animal Behavior Consultant and Certified Dog Trainer she feels this adds much credibility to their breeding program.
“I have always been in the ‘people’ business,” recalls Penny. “Raising puppies and providing our parents knowledgeable support, continues along this rewarding path.”
Joel comments, “…ask my wife, she’s practically an encyclopedia.”
