Where Did She Go?
I could only imagine what all the kids (big & little) were thinking when one day I did not greet them with songs and have my usual lengthy conversations with each of them. I didn’t even say goodbye, and I always say goodbye.
Aging is simply part of living and sometimes it just isn’t so simple. After many months of back pain, I was faced with operative intervention in the form of posterior lumbar interbody fusion and pedicle screw fixation L4-5 with posterior lateral fusion. This was due to the degree of stenosis. I had a lot going on in a very common area of the lower back.
My surgeon assured us that everything went quite well. I can only say how grateful I am to be back home and beginning the long road to recovery.
There are people among us that you never really recognize or pay close attention to, but they are angels on earth. I cannot express how truly messed up our health care system must be to have hospitals and facilities so understaffed that caring, talented, medical professionals have to apologize to patients for not getting to them when they needed them most. These PAs, nurses, and CNAs are caught in the middle of a critical storm that ends poorly for them each and every day. Yet, they show up and believe in what they do so wholeheartedly that we get to witness little miracles every day. Yet, there are still brave young women and men in school and training to take on the shi* storm each and every day.
Please thank your medical professionals and greet them with a warm smile instead of an annoyed scowl the next time you see them. They are all doing their best every day. Be Kind, be grateful!
