It's hard to believe we've reached the final chapter of the CaveInn's Creek journey.

The past eight weeks have been filled with firsts—first steps, first wagging tails, first adventures, and first friendships. What began as a litter of tiny newborns has grown into a group of confident, curious young Labradors, each with a unique personality and a bright future ahead.

As breeders, these final weeks are some of the busiest—and most meaningful—of the entire process.

Growing Independence

By seven weeks of age, the puppies are becoming remarkably independent.

Their days are filled with purposeful play, exploring the outdoors, interacting with one another, and seeking out human companionship. They are learning valuable social skills from both their littermates and the adult dogs around them.

Every wrestling match teaches bite inhibition.

Every new toy encourages problem-solving.

Every positive interaction with people helps build trust and confidence.

These lessons may seem simple, but together they form the foundation of a well-adjusted family companion.

Confidence Through Experience

At CaveInn Labradors, we believe confidence is built—not born.

Throughout these final weeks, the puppies continue experiencing new environments, different surfaces, everyday household sounds, visitors of all ages, and gentle handling exercises.

By introducing new experiences gradually and positively, we help puppies learn an important life lesson:

New doesn't have to be scary.

That confidence will serve them well as they transition into their forever homes.

Veterinary Wellness Day

At six weeks, our puppies visit Dr. Juhl for one of the most important milestones before going home.

During this appointment, each puppy receives:

• A complete physical examination

• First vaccinations

• Microchip implantation

• Individual health assessment

• Health Certificate documentation

We look forward to these visits because they provide another opportunity to ensure every puppy is healthy and thriving before joining their new family.

Matching Puppies with Families

One of the questions we're asked most often is how puppies are matched with their new homes.

While appearance certainly captures attention, temperament remains our highest priority.

Over the past several weeks, we've spent countless hours observing each puppy's personality:

• Who naturally seeks people?

• Who confidently explores new environments?

• Who prefers quiet observation before joining the fun?

• Who has a calm, easygoing disposition?

• Who thrives on activity and adventure?

These observations help us guide families toward the puppy that best fits their lifestyle and expectations.

Every puppy deserves a family that appreciates exactly who they are.

Preparing Families

As the puppies prepare to leave, so do their future families.

During these final weeks, we provide guidance on nutrition, crate training, house training, daily routines, veterinary care, socialization, and the transition into their new homes.

Our relationship with families doesn't end on pickup day.

In many ways, it's just beginning.

We love watching our puppies grow and remain available to answer questions throughout each dog's life.

Bittersweet Goodbyes

There is always excitement when puppy pickup day arrives.

There is also a little sadness.

For eight weeks, these puppies have been part of our daily lives. We've celebrated every milestone, cleaned countless puppy pens, laughed at endless puppy antics, and fallen in love with each unique personality.

Saying goodbye is never easy.

But watching a puppy leave with a family who has been eagerly counting down the days reminds us why we do what we do.

This has always been the goal.

A Foundation for Life

The first eight weeks of a puppy's life are incredibly important.

Our responsibility has never been simply to raise puppies.

It has been to nurture confidence, curiosity, resilience, and trust—qualities that will continue to grow long after they leave CaveInn.
