CaveInn’s English Labrador Spring Puppies

These past two weeks have brought us beautiful beginnings with 16 English Labrador puppies arriving into our care. Although the puppies are only two days apart in age, their development varies from pup to pup. Evvy is an experienced momma and has nursing down to a finely tuned skill. Sam is learning that she has phenomenal gifts as she confidently navigates her first litter of puppies.

We are entering a transitional stage with the puppies. So much happens so quickly that it can feel like a light switch suddenly flips, and these little fur creatures become alive with surprising energy and growing awareness.

Weeks 2–3 | Transitional Awareness

Eyes begin to open, soon followed by ears, and the puppies gradually become aware of their surroundings. Their movements grow more deliberate and coordinated, and gentle handling continues to build confidence. During this stage we have completed early neurological development but continue fostering comfort with human touch, laying the foundation for socialization and future learning.

Soon objects will be introduced as they discomer one another and toys for the first time.

Weeks 3–4 | Exploration Begins

Puppies begin walking more confidently and start engaging in gentle early play with their littermates. Their curiosity grows noticeably, and early personality traits and individual behaviors begin to emerge. New textures and mild sensory experiences are introduced gradually while we maintain a calm, predictable environment to support steady development.
