CaveInn’s Mossy Oak

Our big silver bear, Mossy, passed away peacefully in our arms on November 5, 2024.

Mossy came to us from Chalk Creek Labradors. Mossy and our Blue Moon arrived on the same day and the CaveInn took on new meaning!

When we welcome a puppy into our family, our lives are never the same. When they leave us, our lives are never the same. I talk to so many people about the loss of their beloved family members and today I need to listen to my own inner voice.

Mossy was never without an antler, and until the day she slipped away, she happily chewed on one. As much as she loved being outside in any weather, she also slept near the fireplace or curled up on the couch each evening.

She was always tolerant of our photo antics and happily wore the GoPro to film shed hunts. As long as she got to go, she was in heaven.

These last few years we have been celebrating our three elder girl’s birthdays with a cake or specially made cookies and usually grilled venison. Nothing better to Mossy than eating venison steak right off the grill.

Mossy was a strong yet gentle soul. A majestic silver bear with the softest almost baby fur.
